Chapter Thirteen

You See Right Through Me

Now at nine months pregnant, Cyn was a big as house and stayed to herself. She was sick of Frenchy calling and trying to find out where she was. The only people that knew where she was, was Jaylah, Bronx and Messiah. She didn’t want to hear Frenchy’s excuses about why he couldn’t be a family man, or just let her love him. All she wanted him to do was give him her all, and being a family with their daughter. Why did he make it so hard? She didn’t want to be stressed out, so she decided to cut off communication with him. Messiah and Jaylah took turns taking her to appointments.

She was due next week, and her daughter was already giving her issues. She knew she wasn’t going to make it to next week, with the constant pain she was feeling. She hated going through this alone, when her child’s father was around but couldn’t get his shit right. Sleeping was impossible, and all she thought about was Frenchy. She sighed and waddled to the ringing house phone across the room. When she saw her mother’s number, she answered. Myra had been living with her husband around the world. She was an army wife, and Cyn would get photos of her in different countries.

“Hey mami, what’s going on?” Cyn asked, putting her feet up and getting comfortable.

“Are you sitting down, baby girl?” Myra questioned, knowing the news she was about to disclose could cause her daughter to go into labor.

“I’m actually lying down. What’s going on?”

“Sage just called me, and your father was murdered in a hotel room,” she disclosed.

Cyn sat up and looked at the phone and then placed it back to her ear. “Omg, are you alright ma?” Cyn asked, wanting to make sure her mother was alright.

“Cynthia, I am fine. I want to make sure you’re alright. I know you lov”

“I loved the old papa, he had become someone I didn’t know. It’s better someone else took his life, because if I did it, it wouldn’t have been peaceful. All the shit he put you through in the end, cheating with Sage, he deserved to go.”

“Well, since I am still listed on all his wills and papers, I have to fly out to California to get everything in order. Sage gets nothing, and she’s panicking.”

“Fuck that bitch! Kick her ass to the side ma, and sell the house and get a new one out there. You’ll be moving back to the states soon.”

“It’s a possibility, but I want to be near my daughter and grandchild. I wanted the news to come from me, are you sure you’re alright?” Myra questioned again.

Cyn giggled, “Mami, I’m fine. Call me later and we’ll talk more. It’s nap time and this little girl is acting crazy.”

“Okay, take care of Nana’s baby,” she said and they ended the call.

Cyn sat her head back and closed her eyes. Her father was gone and she didn’t feel anything.
